Sample Quality Inspector Job Description

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ability to use precision measuring equipment, i.e. calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, optical comparators, CMM and height gages.
Clearly presents written descriptions of inspection results including deviations from engineering requirements.
May interact with and provide responses to company management and customer Quality Assurance representatives during audits and review of Company inspection and calibration activities.
Performs inspections of materials, parts, assemblies and processes.
Operate various Coordinate Measuring Machines, including performance of set ups and calibrations. Working knowledge of PC-DMIS software preferred.
Clearly present written descriptions of inspection results. Record accurate and concise descriptions of nonconforming conditions identified during inspection of product utilizing computer applications and databases.
Requires an extensive knowledge of inspection procedures, processes, devices and aids in a manufacturing environment as well as a wide and comprehensive knowledge of inspection concepts and principles including the ability to read and understand highly complex engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, procedures and manuals
Must possess: (1) the ability to identify, analyze and interpret data; (2) strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to explain detailed information effectively with all levels of employees including management and outside customers and vendors; (3) organization skills to maintain flow of work within the unit; (4) the ability to establish priorities.

Job Qualifications

Typically requires an associate’s degree, trade school certificate, military training, or equivalent in quality inspections or certification by a professional group such as ASQ or AWS, and five or more years of progressive experience in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical or metrology inspection and calibration. May substitute additional experience in lieu of formal education and training.
Must possess the ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings and specifications, and perform mathematical computations. Including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
Strong communication skills to effectively interface with all levels of employees including management.
Ability to interpret highly complex information and respond to a variety of highly complex issues.
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
Strong computer skills.
Ability to work independently or lead in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
Experience with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards is desirable
